The Bill Cox
Service Award
The purpose of the Bill Cox Service Award is to recognize a Certified Athletic Trainer or other athletic health care provider who has enhanced athletic health care and made significant contributions to the professional development and advancement of the Athletic Training profession.
The Wes Jordan Athletic Training Student Scholarship
The Wes Jordan Scholarship is awarded to a deserving student of athletic training. This candidate must demonstrate a dedication to the profession of athletic training by maintaining a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. Wes Jordan was inducted into the National Athletic Trainer’s Hall of Fame and served the profession of athletic training for three decades.
The Mike Linkovich Graduate/Post-graduate Grant
The purpose of the MATA Mike Linkovich Graduate or Post Graduate Grant Award is to honor the career contributions that Mike Linkovich made to the profession of Athletic Training. In that spirit we developed this grant to promote research or scholarly works that will facilitate advancement of the athletic training profession.
The Carl Nelson District 1 Scholarship
This is a $2500 scholarship in honor of Carl Nelson, ATC. Carl worked at Colby College from 1959- 93, serving students as an athletic trainer, associate professor and director of health services throughout his career. Nelson cared for Olympians in 1972, 1976 and 1980 winter games. He was inducted into the NATA Hall of Fame in 1986.
MATA Service Award
The purpose of the MATA Service Award is to recognize an individual who has shown profound interest in and has made a significant contribution to the profession of athletic training. This person has displayed a dedication to advancing, promoting and championing the efforts of the MATA and its members.
